Children In Need

A big thank you to everyone who supported our Children In Need events this year. The children really enjoyed dressing up and trying to guess Pudsey’s favourite physical activity. We are very pleased to announce we raised £228.76 for the charity, which helps children thrive all over the UK.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

The children have all settled back into nursery really well and we have been having great fun going on a bear hunt! We had different sensory trays which the children explored with their hands and feet alongside reading the book. At the end of the trail, we found the bear in a tent! The children (and practitioners!) have really loved it.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Before we broke up for half term, we held a tea party for the children to celebrate 70 years of the Queen’s reign. They ate cakes and strawberries whilst wearing crowns they had decorated themselves. They also waved flags and sang songs. It was a great way to celebrate such a unique moment in history with them and we all had a great time!

We love numbers!

We have some lovely new wooden toys at nursery and they have been helping us this term with our numbers and counting! As well as these, we have also been counting things and looking at numbers everywhere we can, around the nursery, out in the garden and with our parents while out and about! Numbers are fun 🙂

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

We have been having so much fun in the garden! The children love playing with water in this hot weather as well as going on bug hunts and creating adventures using role play! Our outdoor space is fabulous for the children and we are pleased to see them smiling and having so much fun with their friends after a crazy year.

World Book Day 2020

Our children had lots of fun dressing up as their favourite characters and reading books in our tent for the week of World Book Day. There were lots of discussions about books as well as imaginative play and we even had a catwalk show to display all the wonderful costumes!

Yummy pizza!

This term, as well as carrying on with lots of fun activities connected with ‘The Snail and the Whale’, we have also made mini pizzas. The children had been talking a lot about pizza so we to let them choose and cut their toppings and spread tomato to make their own snack. Yum!

Happy New Year!

We have welcomed the children back to nursery and have heard all about the time they spent over Christmas. The children all enjoyed watching the adaptation of ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldon and Axel Scheffler on the television so we are going to spend some time this term enjoying this book with them.

Christmas Video 2019

We have created a Christmas video. Merry Christmas from all at Summerfields Nursery.

Our Nativity play

Our older children all performed brilliantly in their Nativity play last week. They all dressed up and learned lots of new Christmas songs. The parents all enjoyed watching and we received some lovely feedback! “I love the plays and discos you all create and bring together. I love how it all comes together. Summerfields staff are amazing, I recommend your nursery to all. Keep
